Rumsfeld is above the law, Judge rules!

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit Tuesday against former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and three high-ranking U.S. military officials accused of ignoring allegations that U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan tortured prisoners.
“Despite the horrifying torture allegations,” wrote U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan in a 58-page opinion, “the plaintiffs lack standing to pursue a declaratory judgment against the defendants.”
The detainees alleged they were hung upside down while slapped, electrically shocked, beaten unconscious, stripped naked and anally probed, menaced by dogs, chained and deprived of water and food.

This is a disturbing story to say the least. Wasn’t it Bush who was all over the news and radio proclaiming how the US was going to liberate Iraq, and put an end to Saddam’s human rights violations once and for all? The pictures and videos displayed at the time depicted images of people being tortured at the hands of Saddam’s hench men. For a brief moment, the world listened and agreed with the President.
Torture is wrong, it’s in-humane. This is a ‘non-negotiable’ human right. Then the story breaks about the atrocities being committed against Iraqi Nationals. The pictures being displayed were even more horrific than those from ‘the enemy’! The world was appalled that the leader of the free world would let this happen. The world demanded justice! Somebody’s head had to roll because of these atrocities. The world demanded it and expected it. But what happens instead? Nothing. Not even a token penalty.
Bush and his cronies once again show the world that they are above the law. Sandbox bullies if you will. “Hypocrites” isn’t a strong enough word to describe this administration. Anybody have a thesaurus handy?
