Burger or Birth? What to do, what to do?

Woman goes into labor. Woman is hungry, so woman asks husband to stop at McDonald’s on way to hospital. Husband orders two ‘Big N’ Tasty burgers to go. Woman eats hers first. Husband has two bites of his then realizes it’s raw!

My point here is not that the second burger ended up being raw, but rather questioning where the couple’s priorities were. Going into labor and heading for the hospital is a good plan. Going into labor, but hitting the Drive-Thru for a burger on the way to the hospital seems a bit flawed. The expectant mother claims that “she knew she could not eat at the hospital because of potential complications with pain medication.” So what does she do instead? Take a risk by wolfing down a fast food burger on the way to delivering her child!

Luckily, her so called burger was properly cooked. But what if she had gotten the second burger out of the bag instead? The husband claims that after two bites of his burger, he got sick. Pretty risky if you ask me. Birth or burger first? She made the wrong decision.

Eating at a fast food burger joint is a roll of the dice at the best of times. Stopping for a fast food burger, while in labor on the way to the hospital is a bad decision. She should consider herself lucky that she or her soon to be delivered child didn’t suffer any complications or consequences of her stupid decision.

254 pound 7 year old boy! Somebody’s wrong!

In a story reported by CNN, a boy’s mother is dumbfounded as to why her 7 year old weighs 254 pounds!
She claims that after 4 years of visits to various medical doctors about the boy’s condition, all she has been told is to ‘watch his diet’.
You would think that after all of these visits to various doctors looking for causes of why her son is so obese, that if it were a true medical condition, it would have been discovered. But, apparently it is just a ‘diet’ issue.

In the report she claims that she feeds him just three times a day. One plate, containing one meat, and two vegetables. That’s it.
As the story is being told, the camera pans a hand written menu for the boy for one day. As I scan the menu, I notice something strange about it. It doesn’t seem like a ‘normal’ diet plan. Each meal is not a rounded serving of one’s nutritional needs for the day. Nowhere on the menu is there a vegetable to be found. I highly doubt that 4 scrambled eggs and a slice of cheese constitute a healthy breakfast. Nor are 5 Vienna sausages and a cup of popped popcorn likely to be considered a healthy lunch for a growing (no pun intended) boy. Each meal does have one thing in common though, diet sodas. Nowhere on the menu are there any healthy beverages, milk, juices, or even water. Just carbonated diet sodas!

She claims that she only feeds the boy one plate of food for every meal. My question to her is “what size are the plates”? From what I saw of her menu, there wasn’t enough food to keep a normal, healthy child’s hunger in check for a day let alone a 254 pound young boy!

Somebody is not being honest in this story. Looking at his mother, there may very well be some genetic traits that he picked up from the family gene pool, but there are limits. Either the family’s plates are the size of garbage can lids, or the boy has a stash of Twinkies behind the barn somewhere. If the reason for his obesity is not a medical one, then the only other reason would be he’s eating too much!

The story reports that the State is threatening to take the child away from her for his own safety. At the very least, they should teach her about proper nutrition, and then she should lead by example.

It’s been 4 years, and what has changed?

Wow, I couldn’t believe that the four year anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq was yesterday. 4 years past and what has changed? Nothing!

Donald Rumsfeld said that he couldn’t see the war lasting even six months, when operation ‘Shock and Awe’ started. Bush then declared a very premature ‘victory’. Well, let’s see what has happened since then.

Rumsfeld was right; the war did not last 6 months. Bush was wrong, just plain wrong. What was touted as an early victory in the war against ‘the evil doers’, is turning into another long, drawn out military campaign, costing billions of dollars to finance plus thousands of lives lost. All for what? Achieving democracy in the area is no closer now than it was 4 years ago. Will it ever be achieved in the area? Highly unlikely considering the history of the Middle East.

But yet Bush tells us it’s going to happen, soon. Just like he told the world that there are positively, absolutely weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. But yet to this day, none have been found, not even evidence that they ever existed. Donald Rumsfeld summed it up perfectly when asked about weapons of mass destruction in an ABC News interview; he said “We know where they are. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.”

In other words “We don’t know where they are, hell they probably don’t even exist, but the world bought it didn’t they?” No, not too much has changed in the past four years, other than Hussein, his right hand man, and his two sons are no longer in the picture. But they never were the real heart of the problem were they?

Terrorism around the globe is still a real threat, and thousands of military personnel are still fighting a war against the wrong enemy.

Bruce Springsteen once said “Blind faith in your leaders will get you killed.” Truer words have never been spoken.

50 Cent Produces Coloring Book

50 Cent has released his coloring book, of which he’s the subject, aimed at bringing gangsta values to pre-school children!

“Did I read that right”, I thought to myself as I choked on my morning coffee! ‘Gangsta values’ to pre-school children? Deciding to do some research on ‘gangsta values’, I hit the web and started searching.

The first site I hit was the official 50 cent web site. I’m not going to sully my page and post the link here, but all I can say is if his coloring book is anything like his web site, the ‘gangsta children’ are in trouble!

Guns, ho’s, and b*tches, nice values to teach children, don’t you think?

Naomi Campbell Sweeps the Floor

Naomi Campbell, the super model started her 5 day community service sentence today. She’ll be pushing brooms and emptying trash cans as part of her sentence they tell us. I’m not taking a side on this ‘Naomi Campbell’ issue. Truth be told, I couldn’t give two shits about what she did to deserve this sentence. I don’t even particularly care about Naomi Campbell.

This story just got me to thinking about justice. Just for thought, let’s take Naomi, a Super Model, and also a celebrity who is prone to violent outbursts. She throws her Blackberry and hits her maid square in the back of her head. She has to pay her maid’s medical expenses of $363, and perform 5 days of Community Service to atone for her crime. Enough said.

Now, let’s compare her to another celebrity who has run into trouble with the law. Doesn’t matter which one, pick anyone. Mel Gibson? That ‘Hilton’ person? Or how about Michael Jackson! Now here’s a guy (and I use that term loosely) who has been accused not once, but twice of ‘inappropriate’ behavior concerning young boys. What has he gotten? A whole mess of publicity and nothing else. His public relations team spun both of those stories around to make him sound like the victim!

Or how about OJ? His high priced, and high powered legal team got him off the hook. At the time OJ claimed he would spend every waking moment of his life looking for the real killers, but instead finds more time to whine about how he has to play on public golf courses because he can’t afford anything better!

Or better yet, how about Mike Skilling, convicted last fall to 24 years and four months in jail for his involvement in the Enron debacle. He says he’s going to appeal all 19 counts of fraud against him. Will he end up doing time? Probably not, because his legal team will undoubtedly drag the appeals process on long enough for Mr. Skilling to die of old age before he serves his sentence!

Now if you or I got arrested for any of the above mentioned offenses, the legal system would throw the book at us. Even if we could afford the high powered legal team, were still the common man who broke the law, and we’d end up paying for it! But if you have celebrity status, and or lots of money, apparently you get judged by a different legal system!

Poor Naomi. Sentenced to 5 days of doing stuff she’s probably never ever done in her life before! Sounds to me like Naomi needs to spend the money and hire better lawyers.
