Worse alternatives to getting banned I guess!

An Environmental activist has been detained by Chinese police for pointing out worsening pollution at Tai lake from nearby chemical factories. The Tai lake has an area of 2,420 (934 sq. miles) square kilometers, and is home to over 60 types of fish and other aquatic life. Wu Lihong’s wife told reporters, “All my husband did was try to save the environment and make more people aware of the situation at the lake.”

Detention and harassment of activists of any kind in China is nothing new. But what makes this story so strange is that two years ago, Wu was a candidate in a national campaign to name 10 people who “moved China” in their services to society.

Once again the Chinese Government is trying to sweep their garbage under the carpet, hoping nobody recognizes the growing pile of garbage they are trying to hide. With China being put under the world’s microscope when it hosts the 2008 summer Olympics, you would think they would spend more time cleaning up their backyard, rather than silence their critics who are trying to help.

DNA Testing proves who’s guilty, without a doubt!

A simple DNA test has proven the illegal trade of Basking Shark fins in where else? China and Japan.

The Basking Shark, the second largest fish in the world, remains in high demand for it’s fins even though it is an internationally protected species. The filter feeding shark can grow up to 40 feet long, and it’s fins can get as much as $50,000 per fin.

Now with DNA testing, it will be easier for officials to tell which type of shark a fin is from. Hopefully this will allow officials to put more pressure on countries who continue to exploit these animals for their fins.

Because of the self indulgent popularity of shark fin soup, the rich and influential of Chinese society pay big bucks to have these animals slaughtered for their precious indulgence. If the Chinese Government would allow the importation of Kraft Dinner into their country, then they could indulge in our ‘high society’ food instead!

Can anybody tell me what part of ILLEGAL Japan and China don’t understand? Does the meaning get lost in the translation? Or do they need someone to spell it out for them!

The more I read about this shit, the madder I get!

Idiots piss me off, especially when they have guns!

A Russian hunter; scratch that. A Russian idiot with a rifle shot and killed one of the last remaining female Amur Leopards in the wild!

Environmentalists estimate that between 25 and 34 Amur Leopards are left in the world. Only 7 sorry, now 6 of them are females.

The hunter (I use that term loosely) shot the cat through the tail bone. As it was lying on the ground, wounded, it was then beaten over the head with a heavy object.

A local wildlife watchdog received an anonymous tip that a leopard had been killed. It took State wildlife officials a day of searching to find the Leopard.

Amur Leopards have never been known to attack humans.

The Russian idiot that did this should be hunted down, dipped in gravy and put in 5′ X 5′ room with a wolverine! After he stops screaming, he should then be removed and have his head beaten with a heavy object!

This shouldn't be happening to near extinct animals!

Mysterious Oil Slick Continues to Coat Vietnam Shoreline

As the world celebrated Earth Day on Sunday, Vietnam was still wondering where the oil was coming from, that for the past three months has been washing up on their shores.

Since late January, volunteers and the military have scraped up over 1,600 tons of congealed oil from it’s shores, with no ideas where it could be coming from. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said the country’s National Search and Rescue Committee has ruled out that the leaking oil could be coming from it’s own offshore oil wells. However the committee has suggested that one possibility for the source of the oil may be a leaking Chinese oil rig south of Hainan Island that was damaged in a typhoon last year.

The China National Offshore Oil Corporation, which owns the oil rig, refused to comment when contacted by AFP in Beijing. Now we all know of China’s environmental record, as well as it’s irresponsible custodianship of the ocean and it’s inhabitants. So it’s no wonder that when contacted to comment on the accusation of one of it’s oil rigs possibly leaking, they ignore it.

I’m no Petrochemical Transfer Engineer, but I’m thinking that if there were a mechanical problem on an oil rig, there would be a blinking light, buzzer, or something on a panel to alert somebody there is a problem. Now far be it for me to accuse the Chinese Government of neglect, but if the mysterious oil leak is coming from one of their offshore oil rigs, don’t you think they might want to find and fix the problem? It’s not going to fix itself! Read More Here

Bush’s Buddies Remain Defiant

In what are turning into public spectacles, the Bush camp, so far at least seem to be the only supporters of Wolfowitz and Gonzales. The German Development Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul has added his name to the list officials who are asking that Wolfowitz resign. “My conclusion is that Wolfowitz should do the bank a service and take the consequences himself. The sooner, the better,” he was quoted as saying.

World leaders want him to step down; even employees and colleagues at the World Bank dislike and distrust him. The only real support he has, seems to be from the person who appointed him in the first place. This leads us to Mr. Gonzales, the US’s top dog at the Justice Department. It has become apparent that Mr. Gonzales is no more than another of Bush’s minions that will do whatever he is told, whether legal or otherwise. During his testimony last week before the Senate Judiciary Committee, he managed to “forget” everything regarding the details about the firing of eight US attorneys.

How in the hell do you fire eight US attorneys in one fell swoop, and not remember why? He claims the firings were not political, but his former chief of staff, Kyle Sampson, as well as emails prove they were. In the emails, the fired Attorneys were being discussed in terms of whether they were “loyal Bushies” or not. After the testimony, several Republicans and Democrats called for Gonzales to resign his position. President Bush was said to be pleased with the Attorney General’s testimony, and Gonzales himself said he was “optimistic and feeling good.”

Mr. Gonzales and Mr. .Wolfowitz have embarrassed themselves, and abused the positions they hold, but yet neither one of them has any dignity or common sense to resign. Instead they keep their jobs, with the President’s blessing, and go on as if nothing has happened. Public opinion of President Bush, in the US and around the World is at an all time low, but yet he continues to protect his “loyal Bushies” at all costs, regardless of the damages
