The Lawyer, the Doctor, the Border Agent all share one brain!
I haven’t seen a plot unfold like this since last night’s The Three Stooges reruns!
This story has more twists and turns in it than my pet Slinky does!
Let’s break it down into a swallowable chunk.
Andrew Speaker, Lawyer; knows before he flies to Europe for his honeymoon that he is infected with a strain of TB that is resistant to antibiotics. Mr. Speaker claims that Fulton County health authorities told him they “preferred” he not travel, but did not tell him not to travel.
In this story’s first twist, it is learned that Mr. Speaker’s Father-in-law is a Doctor for the CDC, and is a tuberculosis researcher! Robert C. Cooksey should have informed his Son-in-law about the dangers of his infectious TB, regardless of what the Fulton County health authorities told him. Dr. Cooksey is every bit as guilty of negligence as Andrew Speaker is for the possible infection of innocent people.
And in another a twist to this pathetic saga, our government has been withholding information from us regarding the true qualifications of the country’s Border Agents.
Not only are they well trained (our government would like us to believe they are the best in the world), Border protection specialists, but they are medical experts as well!
The border agent at the Plattsburgh, N.Y. border crossing knew that Andrew Speaker was being sought by health authorities, but let him pass anyway because “he did not look sick.” WTF!?
The system put in place to protect the lives and livelihoods of innocent, law abiding citizens has failed miserably! Do you feel safe yet?
If Larry, Moe, and Curly can circumvent the protection system monitored by the Keystone Kops, I”d say the border protection system, as well as the Homeland Security Department needs a good housecleaning and overhaul!
