Bush Commutes Libby’s Sentence. Should we be surprised?
President Bush commuted Scooter Libby’s prison sentence yesterday, stating that he felt his 30 month sentence “was excessive”.
Are you surprised? I’m surprised it wasn’t a full pardon, but I’m not shocked that Libby will not see prison time. He was after all the fall guy in this whole affair.
So he won’t see any prison time, but he will still be required to pay a $250,000 fine as well as be on probation for 2 years. Big deal! Bush and Cheney supporters will throw a fundraising bash and pay that fine off in one night. As far as the supervised probation goes, I’m sure Cheney will find a friend that he hasn’t shot in the face yet who will be more than happy to carry Scooter’s golf clubs during his 2 year probation stint.
This is just another message from the Bush camp telling everybody that they are above the law. Personally, I feel that the amount of B.S. that we’ve had to put up with the Bush Administration during their rein is excessive as well, so when can we expect our pardon?
