ViceZilla’s Views

Vice is finally back! A lot more stressed out than usual, thanks to a very inept webhost!

It seems that one doesn’t have to have any technical smarts to start a webhosting company, only a lot of money, and a very slick advertising department! To make a long story short, what turned out to be “minor” technical difficulties in reality turned out to be a major mass server implosion. Nameservers, hosting servers, and backup repository servers coincidentally crapped out at the same time, or so this webhost would like us all to believe. ViceZilla’s Views was damaged. Databases, files and backup files were all compromised.

I thought long and hard about my position. Should I try and rebuild, or just throw in the towel and quit? Well, I’m here so I’m not quitting. Rebuilding on the other hand will be a little more difficult. The Databases that made up ‘Views’ are pretty messed up, but I’m going to try and resurect them so at least I will have my earlier posts and comments. But this could take some time, so for the moment please bear with me as we start ‘anew’.

The site will be going through some changes as I get things back online, so everyday you might notice something different. I also took this opportunity to change from the B2evolution platform to the Wordpress blogging platform, so I’m trying to learn it as I go along. So thank you for being patient.

If anybody has some spare time on their hands and knows a thing or two about SQL databases, and would like to help Vice out, I’d greatly appreciate it.

So for now, I’ll start with this ‘re-introduction’ post. I’d like to thank everyone who encouraged me to continue this blog. Without your encouragement (aka ass kicking) I might have hung it up. So thanks to you, I’m glad I didn’t!
