Bush: “McCain ‘true Conservative’, maybe, I think…”
One thing that President Bush has been consistant at, and that is his ability (or inability) to make any sense when he speaks. During an interview with his favorite right biased network, “Fox News Sunday”, Bush proclaimed :”John McCain is a ‘true conservative.’ He is very strong on national defense. He is tough fiscally. He believes the tax cuts ought to be permanent. He is pro-life. His principles are sound and solid as far as I’m concerned.”
Then in his next breath he says, “I think that if John is the nominee, he has got some convincing to do to convince people that he is a solid conservative and I’ll be glad to help him if he is the nominee.”
So Bush thinks McCain is a true conservative, but only in his eyes. Now that’s what I call an endorsement! He then went on to say, “some of the criticism of the Arizona senator was the result of probably, some personal animosity toward me. You can’t please all the people all the time.”
Bush obviously doesn’t realize that people know that a vote for McCain is a vote for another Bush term.
The best thing Bush can do is keep using Faux News to ‘help’ and ‘endorse’ McCain’s Presidential bid. That should make it a ’slam dunk’ that McCain won’t be in the Oval Office next year.
Another consistancy with Bush is his disrespect for the English language. He again referred to the Democrats as ‘the Democrat party’! I guess you can’t expect anything more from a President that had a ‘C’ average in college!
Here are some more highlights from the interview:
-Of Obama, the president said, “I certainly don’t know what he believes in.” UMMM, the rest of America does. He believes in change from your failed policies.
– On targeting suspected terrorists by allowing surveillance of phone calls and e-mails of people inside the U.S.: “It’s been a difficult issue for me because I am — listen, I no more want to trample the civil liberties of the American people than anybody else does. On the other hand, I understand the nature of these people. And I understand the complexities of trying to protect the American people.” This sure sounds like another confession!
– On his legacy: “As far as history goes and all of these quotes about people trying to guess what the history of the Bush administration is going to be, you know, I take great comfort in knowing that they don’t know what they are talking about, because history takes a long time for us to reach.” Again, the rationale of an uneducated person. His words of today’s interview, his past 7 years as President, are already history! And he will be judged accordingly by that history.
