Japan’s Whalers Going Broke
Well, well, well, seems the ICR (Institute for Cetacean Research) is learning a valuable lesson in economics. And that lesson is ‘commercial whaling’ doesn’t pay! Japanese media reported yesterday that the ICR is struggling to repay $37 million in Government subsidies.
The ICR’s “scientific whaling” program has flooded Japan with whale meat that it cannot sell! In simple terms, there is an over supply versus demand for the product. It’s a supply and demand issue. The ICR increases it’s “scientific” hunt quota each year, but they can’t seem to sell enough of it. Simple economics.
I guess I’ll have to spell it out for the Japanese whalers. “Stop illegally killing whales. People are finally figuring out your charade that “scientific” is your lie for “commercial.” And as such people are telling you by not purchasing your illegal product.
