Only Congressmen Can Expect Privacy and Freedom of Speech As Protected by The Constitution!

Oh, I see how it works now! The only people in this country that can expect their civil rights be upheld are U.S. Congressmen trying to clear their name from a guilty plea of disorderly conduct. The rest of us have to suck it up in the name of “keeping America safe” by not knowing when and how our every actions or words are being recorded. Apparently we have to Constitutions in this country! One for them which they wave in our faces whenever they need Constitutional protection. And one for us which is just a goddamned piece of paper!

The Larry ‘I’m not gay’ Craig issue is back again. But who really cares at this point what the gay/not gay Republican Congressman has to say about how he wasn’t looking for sex in a Minneapolis Airport Washroom. It’s how his lawyers are trying to get him off the hook that has me pissed!

During another appeal attempt by Craig to get his guilty plea withdrawn, his lawyers contend that even if Craig “had used hand signals to communicate a desire for sex, such actions would be constitutionally protected free speech.” And that “he had a legal expectation of privacy.”

So I think I have this straight now:
1: Larry Craig can use hand signals to proposition other men in a bathroom for sex, and it is considered constitutionally protected free speech. We the People can’t stand behind a sign protesting Bush’s Iraq war in public without fearing arrest!
2: Larry Craig has an expectation of privacy when he propositions gay sex in a public washroom. We the People are subjected to having our phone calls tapped and emails monitored while in the privacy of our own homes!

Isn’t it amazing how these politicians throw the Constitution in your face when it serves their personal needs, but when it gets in their way they quickly ignore it and call it a piece of paper!

One suggestion Larry: instead of picking up pieces of paper off the men’s room floor that you claim precipitated your arrest, maybe you should pick up the Constitution and read it. It really is worth defending, for the sake of everybody, not just your petty disorderly conduct plea!
