Seems the FISA Laws Worked OK Before 9/11

Keith Olbermann questions why the pre 9/11 FISA laws seemed to work just fine because according to AG Michael Mukasey, the Government intercepted a phone call from a safe house in Afghanistan to the United States, about 9/11.

Mukasey said at a speech to the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco, March 30,2008:

“Before 9/11, that’s the call that we didn’t know about. We knew that there has been a call from someplace that was known to be a safehouse in Afghanistan. And we knew that it came into the United States. We didn’t know precisely where it went.”

Lie Was Fodder for Clinton’s Political Ambitions

Something just struck me about Hillary’s now famous “Bosnia lie.” Not only was it infuriating that she claimed she “misspoke” about events that happened at the Bosnia airstrip where she landed. And that she repeated the same lie on a number of different occasions, then claimed she was “sleep deprived,” as her excuse. Whatever.

Her being busted by the truth has obviously brought here credibility into question here at home on the campaign trail. But what about overseas? What effect does her “sleep deprived, mis-speak” have on countries that are our allies? Take for example, the people of Bosnia who lived through their war, and still live there. How do they feel about the then First Lady visiting their country, and then lieing about the events that actually happened?

If, and that’s a pretty exaggerated “IF” she were to become the President of the United States, how would she be received in Bosnia? Hell, how would she be received anywhere else in the world knowing that she has a propensity to “misspeak” about actual events that may or may not have happened to her while abroad?

I would think that any normal, responsible President/Politician (if there is such a thing!) would have a hard time facing the people of Bosnia and not expect to have a few questions asked about why she said what she said.

Desperate Clinton Showing Her Hand

That’s it, its over. Might as well get used to another 4 years of Bush policy under President McCain. Hillary Clinton is playing Russian Roulette with the Democratic Party, and all the chambers are loaded!

The issues and problems that this country faces don’t matter anymore for Hillary, because the only issue she has concerned herself with is the inclusion of the Florida and Michigan votes. Without them, her chances are slim to nil that she will be able to beat Obama for the Party’s nomination. Hillary, undaunted by the numbers has turned her campaign platform into the “if I don’t win, it’s because they cheated me out of Florida and Michigan votes” stand.

Speaking in a series of television interviews, she once again tried to breathe life into the corpse of the Florida/Michigan delegate fiasco by suggesting Obama and his supporters wanted to keep those states from playing a role in selecting the party’s presidential nominee.

“My take on it is a lot of Senator Obama’s supporters want to end this race because they don’t want people to keep voting. That’s just the opposite of what I believe. We want people to vote. I want the people of Montana to vote, don’t you?”

Someone has to break out the abacus and show Hillary the numbers. The Florida and Michigan delegates are NOT going to be seated, unless by some miracle an agreement can be reached before the eleventh hour, and that seems unlikely. What part of “without Florida and Michigan, she can’t win” doesn’t she understand?Turning her campaign focus into a “they cheated me” stand only shows her desperate attempt to win at all costs.

Maybe Hillary should take Bill’s advice and just “chill out” and realize that she is doing more harm to herself by clinging to the notion that the votes that won’t count, will count, because in all likelihood they won’t.

Its time to take one for the team Hillary. It’s time to bow out gracefully, while you still can. If not, there is a good chance the entire Democratic Presidential run will go down in flames because of you.

Bush Presidential Library Looking for a Name

In this day and age, what is the first thing one should consider when starting a business, any business? One of the top things on the list should be your internet presence name, a web address. When one has a web address that formally fits you, or the project you are working on, its best to hang on to it, right? Well, not if your in charge of The Bush Library Foundation.

Possibly, sometime in the near future the Bush Presidential Library and Museum will have a home on Southern Methodist University in Dallas. What it won’t have, is the desired web name to accompany it. The web address “www.GeorgeWBushLibrary.com” was owned by the Bush Library Foundation, was being the key word! For whatever reason, most probably stupidity, it let the name expire last year, and it was purchased by someone else for less than $10.

Well, its my opinion that they deserve to loose it, or at least pay through the nose to buy it back! Why would they let that particular name expire is beyond me! Maybe its just another example of typical Bush mismanagement skills in action. If he’s lucky, maybe the guy who let it expire will get promoted!

For the time being, a hunt is on looking for another domain name. The mind reels at the possibilities! How about “www.theBushreadinhouse.com”? I hear its available!

Hillary is Engineering the DNC Train Wreck

When Hillary isn’t busy dodging sniper fire, she has other irons in the fire to worry about, all of which don’t seem to include her campaign’s financial commitments to pay it’s bills. No, Hillary seems to be past the point of worrying about public perceptions about who she is and what she stands for, but rather is focused on making sure she gets the Democratic party’s nod for the Presidential race against John McCain, regardless of cost or damage to the party.

Hillary want the results of Florida and Michigan to count, even though these states disqualified themselves by breaking party rules for moving their scheduled primaries in January. Clinton won both of these primaries, even though she was the only candidate on the ballot in Michigan, she needs both of these delegations seated to keep pace with Obama. Without them, she trails in the race by a sizable margin.

Should the votes from Florida and Michigan count? Yes and no. I believe that all votes should count, however that being said, the delegations of those two states shouldn’t have broken party rules and moved the dates of their primaries. Rules are rules after all. If all the other states followed the rules, why should Florida and Michigan receive special consideration just because their nullified outcomes favor Hillary? It is unfortunate that these voters’ votes won’t matter to the outcome of the Democratic race unless an agreement can be reached by all parties involved, and so far it looks as though a resolution isn’t on the horizon though.

During an interview Saturday, Clinton expressed her desire to take the Florida and Michigan situation all the way to the end:

“I have no intention of stopping until we finish what we started and until we see what happens in the next 10 contests and until we resolve Florida and Michigan. And if we don’t resolve it, we’ll resolve it at the convention — that’s what credentials committees are for.”

So Clinton does not have the party’s best interest in hand, but rather her own. Barring a complete meltdown by the Obama campaign, it is very unlikely that Clinton will be able garner enough votes to make it close, thus relying on the “superdelegate” vote, which will undoubtedly entail a lot of back room negotiations and deal making. As Hillary puts it, “wooing” the superdelegates.

Either way, by her dragging this all the way to the National Convention where it could end up being decided by the superdelegates as opposed to the voters, the Democratic party will endure a heated battle with each other, which can only weaken its unity. This madness has to end before the convention in Denver!

Greed seems to have taken over the Clinton campaign, and Hillary vows to keep the train on the rails all the way to the National Convention in August where the ensuing wheeling and dealing just may derail the Democratic Party’s bid for the White House.
