With Bush as President, Who Needs Diplomacy?
Is it any wonder why U.S. popularity around the world is fading, when you have a President like Bush who forever seems incapable of turning on his brain before he opens his mouth? Or maybe the problem is that his brain is functioning properly, but he just can’t control the crap that comes flying out of his yap when speaking in public. Either way, U.S. foreign policy takes a beating whenever Bush steps up to the microphone!
Wednesday Bush put another black mark against his failed Presidency by saying, “Iran has declared they want a nuclear weapon to destroy people, and that the Islamic Republic could be hiding a secret program.”
Bush made his assertion Wednesday in an interview marking the Iranian New Year with Radio Farda, a U.S. government-run radio service that broadcasts into Iran in the Farsi language. The White House released the transcript on Thursday.
Even though Iran has insisted their nuclear program is for civilian power generation, and has no desire for nuclear weapons, a claim backed up by a U.S. intelligence report stating that Iran had suspended work on nuclear weapons. But hey, if Bush says its true then who are we to question his authority? The claim of Saddam’s WMD has worked out pretty well for him so far.
With Bush publicly claiming that Iran wants a nuclear weapon to “destroy people,” one has to wonder about the political fallout of such a remark, especially in Iran. Asked if Iran could exploit Bush’s inaccurate comment for political purposes, Gordon Johndroe, a White House spokesman replied: “I’m not concerned about that. If they want to spin it a certain way, they can do it any way they want.”
So the war drums continue to beat. But Bush’s claim that Iran has “hidden programs in the past and they may be hiding one now.,” only adds more fuel to the question of “what else does Bush’s hidden agenda hold for the future?”
