McCain Already Showing He Has A Short Memory

John McCain has a very short memory, and a very rosy outlook for the future of America on the world stage. But hey, his strong point is, after all foreign policy matters!

John McCain today said that the U.S. cannot ‘go it alone’ in the world as the lone democratic superpower, but must instead rely on an emerging “league of democracies” to forge peace throughout the world. Inspirational words to say the least. But he has forgotten one very important part of our history, and that is under Bush we were a ‘go it alone’ kinda country. He may have a short memory of the events, but I’m sure our legacy of Bush politics on the world stage has been forever chiseled into the minds and psyches of world leaders around the globe.

I’m sure that the bullying of our allies from the Bush clan by threatening them with trade reprisals if they didn’t march to war with us, or at least support the cause, has left a bad taste in world leaders’ mouths. The antics of Bush and his strong arm tactics no doubt will leave a black mark next to our country’s name for a long time to come.

I think if McCain wants to be successful with his ‘foreign policy’ merits, he will first have to distance himself from the Bush camp, which means running over Rove with the “Straight Talk Express” bus first and foremost, then acknowledging that the Bush Administration has done some very great damage to the “American Brand” as we are perceived throughout the world, then and only then can he begin to make claims of being part of an emerging “league of democracies.” Until he turns that corner, everything he says still sounds like a typical Bush speech, which leaves you wondering if he can be trusted him or not.
