Dictionary: ‘hector’ (hek ter) see Bush
President Bush, the linguistic master of the English language must have stayed up late last night to find a use for his “word-of-the-day” calender word! He must be so proud of himself for working the very obscure word, “hectoring” into one of his speeches. Bravo Mr. Bush, Bravo!
Bush’s secret word of the day was “hectoring.” A verb meaning “To intimidate, or dominate in a blustering way.”
Bush, using his new favorite word, made this statement today in a speech criticizing Congress :
“But hectoring was not what the Iraqi leaders needed. What they needed was security and that is what the ’surge’ has provided.”
Bush has accused Congressional critics of doing the same thing to Iraq’s leaders as Bush and his cronies have been doing to us for the past seven years, and that is bullying!
I guess it really does take one to know one!
It will never cease to amaze me how Bush can criticize other people for doing exactly what he himself does! There’s a word for that, its called hypocrisy. Unfortunately that “word-of-the-day” word has probably been removed from his calender by Karl Rove before he resigned.
