McCain Accuses Dems of ‘Reckless’ Iraq Promises
Senator McCain is accusing his Democratic rivals of making “reckless” promises they can’t keep by pledging to put an end to U.S. military occupation in Iraq. Really John? Do tell us more about your theory of “Reckless Democrats”
Speaking to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansa City, Mo, he criticized Obama and Clinton for taking a stand as a “failure of leadership,” by making promises they can’t keep. He also insisted that last year’s surge in Iraq brought a glimmer of “something approaching normal” there. And that pulling out would jeopardize recent gains.
“To promise a withdrawal of our forces from Iraq, regardless of the calamitous consequences to the Iraqi people, our most vital interests, and the future of the Middle East, is the height of irresponsibility,” he said. “It is a failure of leadership.”
McCain is the one who is being “reckless.” As far as his comparison of Iraq reaching “normal,” I’d like to know where he is getting his information. For the past two weeks, attacks on the Green Zone have become more frequent, and deadlier. The civil war that is raging between al-Sadr’s militia and Iraqi security forces are starting to spiral out of control again. And our military dead because of his predecessor has surpassed 4,000! So tell us John, which part of the above statements is “normal?”
I would like to call Bush’s, Cheney’s, and Rumsfeld’s actions that got us into this Iraqi quagmire in the first place “Reckless.” But that wouldn’t be accurate, because it turns out that their actions that got us involved in Iraq were cold, hard, calculated lies.
