What happened in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas last week could be a precursor for what the future holds for this country. We should be outraged at what happened, but not surprisingly very little has been reported by the media.

As reported by commercialappeal.com, Federal agencies conducted a coordinated operation called “Sudden Impact.” The operation was billed as a regional “anti-terrorism initiative,” which entailed searching for and serving fugitive warrants in spot checks of vehicles, boats, businesses and homes. Other media outlets reported computers and papers being removed from businesses that were targeted, under the guise of the Feds were “trying to track down possible terrorists before something big happens.”

It was reported that when the operation had ended, a total of 332 people were arrested, of which 142 were fugitives. Money and drugs were seized, and a total of 1,292 traffic violations were issued. That’s it!

Not one mention of a search warrant being issued, or any evidence of probable cause. The only excuse the Feds needed to stop and search your vehicle or boat, or raid your house or business was that they were looking for fugitives, and “possible terrorists.” That’s it!

The war on terror is coming soon to your front door, or place of business. Don’t think it won’t, because I’m sure the residents of Memphis thought the same thing until their privacy was interrupted by the search for “possible terrorists.” It’s all coming together in George Orwellian fashion. Soon you won’t know who’s listening in on your phone conversations, or when they are watching you surf the internet. They already know where you shop, and what you buy if you use a credit card or debit card. They know what you look like because of the cameras in the ATMs and check out aisles of your favorite stores. The only thing they don’t know about you, is what you are thinking at this exact moment, but don’t worry, they’re working on that technology as we speak!

Warrantless wiretapping, and search order-less searches and seizures of property. All of which this government is guilty of enacting, for as they want us to believe is for “our own good!” Well, no good can come of this, no good at all. Our (un)elected government is taking our society and propelling it backwards in time to the days of Nazi Germany, and cold war KGB where one had to always be on guard for who might be listening and watching your every move, and be careful that you kept your thoughts about the government to your self.

Bush’s “war on terror” is coming to your neighborhood. Just ask the people of Memphis!
