McCain: No Equal Pay For Women

John McCain, the so-called “maverick” is against equal pay for equal work! Much like his stand on the torture issue, he goes against the things that will truly benefit the people of this country, and only sticks up for the things that will benefit his corporate cronies. And once again he has proven this fact.

While campaigning in poverty stricken cities and towns, he said that he opposes a senate bill that seeks equal pay for women because it would lead to more lawsuits. His Republican colleagues killed the bill Wednesday night that would have advanced it to a full debate and vote. But instead, the Republicans kept big business’ interests the main priority.

“I am all in favor of pay equity for women, but this kind of legislation, as is typical of what’s being proposed by my friends on the other side of the aisle, opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems. This is government playing a much, much greater role in the business of a private enterprise system.

McCain claims to be his own man, but he sure plays politics like Bush does. “Screw the little guy, and protect big business,” should be the campaign slogan for 4 more years of Bush policies!

Where’s the media uproar now? I wonder if the media will jump all over McCain for his blatant discrimination against the wages of working woman, or will they give him a free pass again?

  1. As a registered Republican who voted for McCain in the Colorado State Caucus, I am now quite concerned about the efforts John McCain is making to kill the bill for equal pay for equal work.
Unfortunately, this one issue will mean that I probably will not be voting for him. Those in public office should not take this attitude toward an issue of equality especially during a presidential campaign if they are seeking to win votes.

  2. I agree with you, that this issue especially in this day and age is too important to simply be ‘brushed aside.’
