Returning Soldiers Deserve Better

A Fort Bragg soldier’s father uploaded a YouTube video of photos he took of his son’s barracks earlier this month. The video shows the deplorable living conditions to which his son and the other soldiers of his unit in the 82nd Airborne Division returned after a 15-month-long deployment to Afghanistan.
This is absolutely disgusting, the conditions these men must endure when they return home! Our government should be thoroughly embarrassed by this video! The amount of money that Bush has asked for his wars has obviously not been spent on the conditions of soldiers quarters here at home.
File this under pitiful! No, disgraceful is a better description!

I watched the entire video. And it’s sad. It’s disgusting the way these hero’s are treated. I don’t agree with the war. I don’t agree with the Bush Administration. I can’t stand any of what’s happening to this country. But, I’m going to say this because it has to be said.
These soldiers are men. Men of honor. But they lack balls and guts. These soldiers should be standing up. All of them and tell the Bush Administration to go stick it. They should all turn around and leave Afganistan and Iraq. Stand up and come home. They shouldn’t sit around waiting for the so called Commnader in Chief to say, o.k. your done. They know that the whole war was a fucken lie. This whole thing was about OIL.
They should stand up, them and the Generals and say, fuck you to the Administration. Arrest Bush and his cronies and try them in military court for treason. This is disgusting. But what’s even more disgusting is that our Soldiers, our Hero’s won’t stand up and fight for their rights and their country.
It’s time. It’s time for them to come home. Believe me, if they all got up and stood their ground. They will turn this country around. This country will be once again great.
God bless them and their families. They deserve better. They have to take it because they won’t get it from Bush and his buddies.

I hope you have contacted your elected representative and let your feelings be known. You are not alone in your thoughts about the war, and how these men are being treated.
There is a clear line of right and wrong, and Bush has crossed that line far too many times.
You Sir are full of shit. The barracks are trashed as you see them because whiners (like you) want new buildings even though the liberals beat up on the military to the point where the junior level leadership could no longer even enter the living quarters, let alone organize and oversee any sort of cleaning / maintenance program on the current buildings. If you put a bunch of unsupervised persons in any sort of living quarters, are not allowed to set and enforce any sort of DAILY maintenance program and let them run wild, they will turn it into what you see. Barracks at Ft Bragg or the slums in Chicago, it doesn’t matter. When I was a company First Sargeant at Ft Bragg we had the same buildings but through constant monitoring and daily maintenance it was NEVER allowed to get to the level you see here. I know many fine Non-Commissioned Officers at Ft Bragg who could turn this slum into adequate living areas again if they were allowed to supervise their troops in the barracks and kick their ass when they even thought of letting conditions get like this. The people there live like that because THEY ARE ALLOWED TO. Screw that Asst Division Commander who was on the news making excuses…..Contact the Division Command Sgt Major, inform him of what you require and then get the F— out of the way and let the LOCAL LEADERSHIP do their job. RANGERS LEAD THE WAY……….jm
You make a good point with your argument. However, why are the leaders not allowed to enter the living quarters and supervise their troops?
