Torture Defined By Supreme Court Justice Scalia
Like it or not, torture is not considered ‘cruel and unusual’ punishment as defined by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Appearing on CBS 60 Minutes last night, Justice Scalia argued that the torturing of detainees does not violate the 8th Amendment’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment, because torture is not considered a punishment.
So there you have it, a Justice of the highest court of the land has confirmed that torture is not unconstitutional! It is interesting to note that during the interview, as if he was no longer willing to argue his point on the matter he bluntly states, “anyway, that’s my view, and it happens to be correct.” Then finishes off with a shit eating grin!
Let me know when we are supposed to feel proud about this “view.”

Million Blog List
Surfing around this morning, checking my regular blogs that I frequent, I came across a post over at Rotus‘ place that I found intriguing.

Sometimes, Just Sometimes Being in Jail Can Be Healthy
Having worked in law enforcement for a number of years, my views are pretty biased and slanted when it comes to those who break the law. I have very little to no pity for those who commit such heinous crimes as murder, rape, and pedophilia. Those are the crimes, that in my mind need to be dealt with harshly.
Imagine my surprise when I read that an inmate in the Benton County jail in Arkansas has filed a federal lawsuit complaining the jail doesn’t supply him with enough food! Broderick Lloyd Laswell has lost some weight since he entered the jail in September. In eight months he claims he has lost over 100 pounds to a present day weight of 308 pounds, down from 413!
Laswell, who along with a co-defendant fatally beat and stabbed a man, then set his home on fire, had this to say about his new dietary regimen:
“On several occasions I have started to do some exercising and my vision went blurry and I felt like I was going to pass out,” Laswell wrote in his complaint. “About an hour after each meal my stomach starts to hurt and growl. I feel hungry again.”
He also goes on to say that he undertakes little vigorous activity while in jail, and in his suit is asking that the county be ordered to serve hot meals! The meals, provided through Aramark Correctional Institution Services, average 3,000 calories a day.
Poor bastard, having to suffer on a mere 3,000 calories a day to survive! Granted, jail food is not known as a substitute for haute cuisine, but 2,000 to 3,000 calories a day is considered a typical, healthy diet in this part of the world.
Rather than go into the “hindsight being 20/20″ lecture of “maybe if he didn’t kill a man, he wouldn’t be in the predicament he is in,” he should look at it as a healthy step towards him living longer to better serve his time to pay back his debt to society.

And How Would You Like That Penis Done, Sir?
The Chinese are at it again! Rather than relying on the “ol’ Blue Pill remedy,” Chinese restaurants are trying to lure male customers into their establishments by serving a variety of penis dishes.
A 20 year old waitress that works at the Guolizhuang Restaurant in Beijing made these claims:
“For thousands of years, Chinese medicine has used animal penises to cure kidney and erection problems. But if you want something that works faster, we have a wine that contains extracts of heart, penis and blood from a deer,” she added. “That has an effect within 30 minutes.”
To earn the right to eat the genitalia from such endangered species, one must first apply for a special membership card and be ready to pay handsomely.
And we wonder why some species are going extinct! Slaughtering an animal for its penis because of the belief that it will improve the sex lives of the people who eat it. Get with the times people, take the blue pill like everybody else if you can’t get it up! Leave the god damned animals and their penises alone!
