Hillary Wants $2.3 Billion For Earmarks in 09

Umm, is it just me or does Hillary’s request for $2.3 billion for pet projects sound like a lot of money? I’m just asking because the way some of these politicians are throwing money around, our money I might add, one would think the economy is as rosy as it has been for the past 100 years! $2.3 billion!?!

Her request is almost three times the largest amount received by a single senator this year, which was $837 million by Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi.

According to documents provided by her office:

The money is needed for homeland security, emergency response and health projects throughout New York

Yeah, but $2.3 billion? What else is she planning on doing with it, building a museum or something?

Maybe Hillary thinks that seeing as John McCain and Barrack Obama have both shunned earmarks and are not seeking any pork barrel funding for next year, she’s helping herself to their ‘would be’ share!

$2.3 billion, unreal!

Karma Strikes Mortgage Bankers Group

Karma can be considered a cantankerous female dog at times, but sometimes it is refreshing to see it strike back so quickly to those that take it for granted. In a refreshing twist of irony, the same people who brought chaos to the housing market and caused mortgage interest rates to skyrocket are getting a dose of their own bad medicine.

A year ago, the Mortgage Bankers Association was thrilled to sign a contract to buy a fancy new headquarters building in downtown Washington. Interest rates were low, the group’s revenues were steady and the prospects for quickly renting out part of the structure were strong.

But since then, the association has fallen on tough times as many of the subprime mortgages dispensed by some of its members proved dicey. The result:

The trade group is about to find it harder than it imagined to pay its own mortgage.

Scheduled to close on the building in the coming weeks, the association will have to pay millions of dollars more than it would have a year ago when it contracted to buy the 160,000-square-foot structure — millions of dollars it is now less able to afford.

I’m pretty sure the Mortgage Bankers Association won’t be getting any sympathy from those that they screwed, nor should they. This only goes to prove that Karma will indeed bite you in the ass sooner or later!

Economy Hits Home, or is it Tent?

We’ve all heard the news reports, and seen the numbers, but has anybody seen pictures of the economy? All of these people that lost their homes are now moving to new neighborhoods, new cities, tent cities that is.

The Government can bailout an investment firm in the blink of an eye, but the rest of the population has to wait for their so-called “help!”

As Bush continues to “be on top of the economy” and Cheney does some fishing from a yacht in the Middle East, more and more people are filing for unemployment benefits, and more and more people are losing their homes. Bush keeps claiming that in the long term, the economy will rebound back to its robust state. In the meantime, tent cities will undoubtedly be a more and more common site in our cities.

In two more months, these people will be on easy street though as this is when they will be getting their Government “help” in the form of a $300 rebate check! Yup, that $300 will sure help these people won’t they!

This video makes you think about the the saying, “Some people call it camping,” but this isn’t very funny at all.
