Yangtze River Dolphin, now EXTINCT

The freshwater dolphin, or Baiji, as it was once known, is gone forever.

An extensive six week search in late 2006 failed to find any evidence that this rare species is still in existence.

The dolphin’s demise resulted from the combination of overfishing, pollution and lack of intervention.

This should serve as a warning to mankind. Because of Man’s negligence and stupidity, the world has lost a living, breathing animal. Extinct is forever!

We all know that China’s environmental record is less than satisfactory, especially the Yangtze River. The quality of the water is not fit for human consumption, so it only stands to reason that it definitely would not be fit for animal habitation either.

And we all know how much the Chinese respect the oceans and its inhabitants. The Chinese continue to decimate populations of the Ocean’s sharks just for a bowl of soup. But it’s not only the Chinese that rape, loot, and pillage the Ocean’s inhabitants, the Japanese are just as guilty when it comes to pushing species of animals to the brink of extinction.

The Japanese will pull anything out of the ocean, regardless of international laws or treaties, and regardless of whether or not an animal is endangered or not.

They have yearly commercial whale hunts, disguised as “scientific” hunts, which they then turn around and sell the meat for profit. They also hunt dolphin. Yes, dolphin, lots of dolphin, which they also sell under the guise of “Whale Meat”.

So, we’ve lost another species of animal. Pollution, overfishing, and lack of intervention all played a part. So here’s a video of some barbaric Japanese dolphin hunters showing their expertise on how to make more dolphin species extinct.

WARNING: This video is graphic. It will anger you. It will scare you. It might even make you sick to your stomach. One thing it will do, is it will change the way you think about how some people, or countries treat animals we share this world with. The reason I have decided to post it here is because it is a very powerful message which coincides with the Baiji becoming extinct.

Japanese Whalers are just plain stupid, period

The so called “Institute of Cetacean Research”, Japan’s name given to their Commercial Whaling Fleet has reported that almost all of the mature female minke whales they killed in Antarctic waters last season were pregnant.

This, they claim using their twisted, distorted logic is “good news”, because it supports their argument that the population is strong enough to allow a return to commercial whaling.

They proudly proclaim that 91.6%, or 262 of the 286 mature minkes taken during the hunt last year, were pregnant.

“Almost all of the whales are becoming pregnant each year. This is good news. This is great. It shows that the Antarctic minke population is increasing rapidly,” the ICR’s Glenn Inwood said today.

Someone needs to smack these Japanese Whalers up side the head with an abacus and make them understand that the world sees through their thinly veiled smokescreen of “taking whales for science”, is just a cover for their commercial whaling practices. And also explain to the world how they figure the minke whale population is growing when almost 92% of the whales they destroyed in the name of “science” were pregnant?

Once again, I call on the Government of Australia to put an end to the Japanese “scientific whaling charade.”

Ignorance, on a national level!

International ban on whaling blamed for woman’s death. An apparent collision between a whale and a ferry en route from Japan to South Korea, leaves one dead and several injured.

Although no whale carcass was found, witnesses claim that a large pool of blood was surrounding the vessel after the collision, leading to the speculation it was a whale that they hit.

A spokeswoman from the Busan Maritime Police blamed the international ban on whaling for the collision. She said an increasing number of whales have been spotted off the Korean peninsula, apparently due to the international ban on whaling.

This is outrageous!

This woman needs help. And if she’s speaking on behalf of her government, then the government needs help too.

I’ve been trying for the past two hours to wrap my wee little head around this statement! I can’t. What spewed from her mouth is inconceivable in terms of logic.

Ignorance can be cured, stupid is forever. What side of the fence is she on?

Sushi Eaters. Time to put your money where your mouth is

Sushi. I don’t like it. Tried it once, tried it twice, just didn’t sit well with me. But that’s not what this is about.

Hitting supermarket shelves this year in Canada and the US will be a product called “Polar Seas Frozen Sushi”, from True World Foods. True World Foods, the self proclaimed ‘Premier seafood and sushi distributor in the US’, has recently partnered with Japanese whale meat trader, Kyokuyo.

Kyokuyo is a multinational company which has been hunting whales since 1930. It sells millions of cans of Polar Seas brand canned whale meat throughout Japan.

Since the 1930s, Japanese hunters have killed more than half a million whales. Kyokuyo alone has profited from the death of over 130,000 whales over the last 70 years.

The International Whaling Commission in 1986, made it illegal to hunt whales commercially, but a loophole that allows whaling for ’scientific purposes” continues to be exploited by Japan. More than 508 whales have already been killed in Japan’s hunt this year.

Japan now hunts over 1200 whales each year. Illegally, against international law.

Now they want to sell their illegal bounty in North America, marketed to the sushi eaters.

Along with shark finning, used to make Shark Fin Soup, the only reason whales are hunted is because of public ignorance. The more people buy, the more they will need to slaughter to keep up with demand.

The answer is simple. Do not buy these products. It’s an illegal fishery!
