John Gibson, and his producer accuse Jon Stewart of being a “phony”
First of all, who the hell is John Gibson? And what does he have against Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show?
To answer the first question, John Gibson is a nobody who wishes he was a somebody. Maybe the word “nobody” is a little too harsh. John Gibson is a radio talk show host. He hosts “The John Gibson Show” on Fox News Radio. Hmmm, Fox News Radio talk show host? I was right the first time, he is a nobody. I mean who listens to Fox News Radio if they want news? Fox isn’t exactly known for its news gathering and reporting skills after all!
Anyway, we all remember September 11, 2001. No doubt about it that it affected your life one way or another. It affected everybody’s life. Those in the media reported to us viewers how it affected their lives as well. And if anybody stuck a microphone and a camera in my face, I would tell the world how it affected me too. Who doesn’t remember Jay Leno’s monologue or David Letterman’s monologue after the attacks? I do, and I also remember Jon Stewart’s as well. Like Leno’s and Letterman’s, Stewart’s was tough to watch because it pulled at the heart strings. These men who entertained us, night after night also showed us their soft spots after the 9/11 attacks. Their nightly monologues went from funny to serious in the blink of an eye. Their messages that they were conveying to their audience was heartfelt, serious, and very somber. I remember the tones in their voices, the tears in their eyes, and the fear and sorrow in their words.
It was hard to watch. But then again, America was in shock, so everything was hard to watch.
My point is that Jon’s monologue was anything but phony. They were his words, his feelings, his tears, and I give him credit for coming back on his show and sharing his feelings with his audience. It must have been tough, but then again everything in the days following September 11 was tough. But Jon shared his heart with us, and nobody can take that away from him. Nobody!
We’ve ascertained that John Gibson is a relative nobody that lives in his own little “Fox News” world. The only person that is probably more of a nobody than Gibson is his Fox News Radio show’s executive producer “Angry Rich”. Between these two, they came to the conclusion that Jon Stewart was a “phony” because of his remarks he made after the September 11 attacks.
Here is what Jon Stewart told us at the beginning of his September 20 monologue. “The view from my apartment was the World Trade Center. And now it’s gone. And they attacked it. This symbol of American ingenuity and strength and labor and imagination and commerce, and it is gone. But you know what the view is now? The Statue of Liberty. The view from the south of Manhattan is now the Statue of Liberty. You can’t beat that.
Gibson mocked Stewart during a discussion of Philadelphia Daily News columnist Stu Bykofsky’s August 9 column, headlined “To save America, we need another 9/11.” He aired the clip immediately following a caller’s comment that “the last time I ever remember in my entire life this entire country actually stood up and held hands and everybody cared about each other was after 9-11.”
While airing a clip of Stewart’s remarks, Gibson mimicked Stewart and sarcastically interjected, “Oh, God, Jon. Just tell me it’s not true,” and, “Oh! That’s great. I’m — God, I’m touched.”
This is just another example of why Fox News will never be a trusted news source. Read the report here, as well as the transcript of the broadcast.
I’m willing to bet that Gibson was probably the only person in America who blamed Harry Whittington for getting himself shot in the face by Cheney during their hunting trip.
Hmmm, maybe Gibson should call Cheney and take “Angry Rich” and go on a hunting trip together!
And as far as what Gibson has against Jon Stewart? Well, it’s probably because of Fox’s answer to the Daily Show being canceled before it even got started. What do you expect with the show’s first guests being Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter? Yeesh, there’s a ratings nightmare if I ever saw one!
