Alberto Gonzales resigns. He too hits the road

Sanity must be starting to settle in amongst the “Loyal Bushies” who once surrounded President Bush like a cheap suit from Sears. One by one, they have all left his side.

Gonzales has repeatedly said he would never resign. Even yesterday (Sunday) afternoon when rumors were circulating around Washington about his resignation, he denied them.

So his threats thankfully were just talk. The chilling words of “I’m not going to resign. I’m going to stay focused on protecting our kids.” And “sprint to the finish line” to “accomplish all the goals that are important to me.” And of course, “I will stay as long as I feel I can be effective, and I believe I can be effective.”

All words having no meaning or substance, but that is exactly what we have come to expect from Mr. Gonzales during his reign as Attorney General.

Let’s hope that the next AG has some balls to stand up to Bush and Cheney and uphold the laws of the Constitution. It’s the least that we expect!

As far as Bush and Cheney go, it must be getting lonely in the West Wing!

August Fools Day? Chertoff to replace Gonzales?

I’m not sure what to make of this news report that rumors from the hill are saying Gonzales will be replaced by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff

This can only mean one thing. Bush is running out of “Bushies” to do his dirty work.
If, and that’s a big “IF” this rumor is true, then who exactly would take over the position of Homeland Security Secretary? If it’s a straight swap of office chairs, Abu going to Chertoff’s former office, then we are doomed!

Gonzales is a liar, and has to go

Alberto Gonzales has caught himself in his own web of lies. As with all liars, sooner or later they can’t remember which lies they’ve told to cover up previous lies and they end up falling face first into the shit pile they’ve created. Well, Abu is up to his bottom lip in shit.

As reported in the NY Times, July 25, 2007:

At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Mr. Gonzales repeatedly testified that the subject of the emergency meeting on March 10, 2004, was not the terrorist surveillance program (aka the TSP), which allowed the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on suspects in the United States without receiving court approval.

Instead, he said, the meeting focused on another intelligence program he would not describe.

But a four-page memorandum from the national intelligence director’s office, obtained by The Associated Press, shows that the White House briefing was about the surveillance program.

What makes it even worse, is that when asked for a comment Wednesday, a Justice Department spokesman, Brian Roehrkasse, said Mr. Gonzales “stands by his testimony.”

The gun is smoking! What else is it going to take before this band of liars, crooks, and thieves get booted out of the Whitehouse?

How many of his feet can Gonzales fit into his mouth at once?

In another extremely painful to watch testimony from Alberto Gonzales today before the Senate Judiciary Committee, he once again has proven his incompetence as the AG.

Blood is still dripping from my ears after today’s grilling of Abu by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) about a memo signed by Gonzales in May, 2006 giving the Vice President’s office, and staff authority to discuss cases with Justice Department officials.

Gonzales looked like a worm on a hook as Whitehouse questioned him:

Sen. Whitehouse: “What-on-earth business does the Office of the Vice President have in the internal workings of the Department of Justice with respect to criminal investigations, civil investigations, and ongoing matters?”

Gonzales: “As a general matter, I would say that’s a good question.”

Sen. Whitehouse: “Why is it here, then?”

Gonzales: “I”d have to go back and look at this.”

“The memo that has your signature makes it worse,” Whitehouse said. As Whitehouse proceeded with his questioning, Gonzales admitted of his own memo, “I must say I’m troubled by this.”

For somebody who wants to “clean up the Justice Department’s image”, it seems pretty unlikely when he resembles a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming train as he stares at a memo with his own signature on it and can’t remember what it means!

Get a load out of his testimony, but don’t think about it too much or else you’re likely to burst your ear drums with a blunt object!

AG Gonzalez vows to stay on and fix Justice’s image

What a noble thing to say! After raping, looting and pillaging the Constitution of the United States, and allowing the country to get closer to a police state, he is worried about the Justice Department’s image? Get a grip Abu!

There is only one way to “fix” the Justice Department’s image, and he is not a part of the solution. In other words, as long as he is the AG, and his bosses still occupy the White House, the Justice Department’s “image” is the least of the country’s worries.

The sooner he resigns as Attorney General and takes his rightful place under the rock of obscurity, the sooner the Department’s healing can begin.
