Clinton Wins, Will Dems Lose?

Clinton wins in Pennsylvania, she gets to fight another day. But with her win, does it mean more woes for party unity? The battle between Clinton and Obama leading up to Tuesday’s Primary has been less than stellar, and definitely nothing to be proud about. The question at hand is what next will Hillary throw at Obama, now that the kitchen sink has already been used?

Hillary is fighting desperate, and like a cornered animal, she is unpredictable in her struggle to survive. But one thing we do know, is she will fight tooth and nail to keep surviving. But will her struggle to survive mean the end to the Democratic party’s bid for the White House? If the past few weeks are any indication, it would be safe to assume that, yes, by the time June 3rd rolls around, both Hillary and Barrack will be so bloodied and bruised from their fighting, there might not be anything left in the tank for the battle against McCain.

The once historic battle to see who would be the first African American or Woman to vie for the Presidency of the United States has been replaced with a no holds barred street fight that is threatening to be waged in the gutters. This nomination race is not being decided on the issues that are facing this country, but rather on the candidates’ ploys of each of them telling us what their opponent means when they something.

We all know what the word ‘bitter’ means, but what Hillary did was take the word ‘bitter,’ and try to tell us what Obama really meant to say was that he hates blue collar workers, and he is above them. Hillary should be ashamed of herself, if she was capable of such a feeling that is, for basing her entire campaign on twisting the words of her opponent just to make herself look better for the voter.

Then of course there was the ABC debate that just happened to be moderated by a close friend, and former employee of Bill’s who managed to keep the focus on Obama’s previous remarks and the remarks of Rev. Wright. Not very much substance was debated during the event other than watching a dog pile on Obama. Not a very constructive use of time for either of the candidates, or the rest of us who want to hear solutions to the country’s problems.

Even though Hillary has won the Pennsylvania contest, she still has a long way to go to win the party’s nomination, which only leads to one conclusion. Another two months of bickering back and forth between the two candidates with very few positive things being discussed, because it seems that the Democratic race is being based more on a level of a jealous popularity contest than a political one. With so much dirt being thrown by each candidate, exposing each other’s weaknesses, their ultimate opponent, John McCain won’t have to work too hard to dig up speech fodder for the general election.

The Democratic party’s winner will be the one that has the ability to remain civil throughout the next two months, but what damage will be done to the party’s unity by the one who cannot? There will be a winner declared in June, that is a fact. But what will be left of him or her remains to be seen. The next two months could prove to be either a unifying experience, or an embarrassing one for the Democrats. It all depends on which household implement Hillary decides to throw next.

Robed Obama Picture Results in Finger Pointing. Who Cares?

A picture of Barack Obama wearing traditional African Dress during a visit to Kenya in 2006, has resulted in accusations of a smear attempt by the Clinton Campaign.

The picture which was sent to the Drudge Report was reportedly circulated by “Clinton staffers,” possibly in an attempt to reignite the claim that Obama is a Muslim. Which if that is the case, it seems to tell us that Clinton is getting very desperate for ways to discredit her opponent and crawl back into the race.

But on the other hand, Obama staffers view the photograph as very offensive. David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign manager accused Mrs Clinton’s aides of “the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we’ve seen from either party in this election”.

Why is the Obama camp getting it’s undies all bunched up over this? Personally I don’t understand the significance of the picture. So what if Obama was given the garb as a gift by elders in North-Eastern Africa while he was visiting. It’s a non-issue, and has no place in the Democratic contest.

If the picture has changed anybodies mind as to who they were going to vote for in the end, then they weren’t really that committed to that individual in the first place. Let’s just stick with the issues please.
