Congress Shows Bush Who’s Really the Boss

Bush is of course!

In a disgusting display of cowardice, Congress (you remember them. They were the ones elected to power with the promise of putting an end to Bush’s war in Iraq.) has caved in to Bush’s demands of spending more money for the Iraq war with no strings attached.

An extra $30 billion for the war in Iraq is what the Democrats are proposing, with a string attached of course. The string is not a timeline for troop withdrawal from Iraq, which everyone knows Bush would veto anyway. No, the string is an additional $11 billion for domestic programs. That’s right! Congress is now “bribing” the President for money for domestic programs by giving him money to prolong the war in Iraq!

Way to go Congress! That’s the way to put your foot down and assert your authority over the Government checkbook! What kind of a crazy, ludicrous, f#@%*d up mess have we gotten ourselves into?

House Passes $50B Iraq Withdrawal Bill

House Democrats pushed through a $50 billion bill for the Iraq war Wednesday night that would require President Bush to start bringing troops home in coming weeks with a goal of ending combat by December 2008. Does this sound familiar?

Let me refresh your memory if you’ve forgotten the routine.

1. Bush asks for $X billion to fund the war in Iraq.

2. Congress passes a bill for a portion of what Bush asks for funding the war, with stipulations of a troop withdrawal.

3. Bush vetoes the bill when it hits his desk, saying that any stipulation of a troop withdrawal in Iraq is unacceptable.

4. Congress whines and moans about the veto.

5. Congress gives Bush the original amount he asked for in the first place.

This is just another of the same old song and dance from congress. They talk tough, but when it comes down to it, it just ends up being all talk. I’m tired and bored of this same old same oldĀ stuff. It’s time long over due for Pelosi to either take a shit or get off the pot. The people voted to end the war in Iraq, hence giving the Democrats power in Congress. But to this day all we’ve heard is talk. Bush asks, and Pelosi delivers.

Nice Job Nancy.

Pelosi, don’t let the door hit you on the way out

“This is a war that each passing day confirms what I have said before and I will say again. This war in Iraq is a grotesque mistake; it is not making America safer, and the American people know it.”
- Nancy Pelosi

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has failed this country. Her above statement proves it.

Her inability as House Speaker to stand up to Bush by shutting down his illegal war in Iraq and bringing our troops home is a travesty. Her “New Direction Agenda” hasn’t been going in the right direction.

It’s Time for a change Nancy. Time for someone who backs up their talk with action. Say hello to your replacement:

Nader: Bush and Cheney are so impeachable, we can’t impeach them

Ralph Nader was giving a speech on October 11 during a fundraiser for DemocracyRising. During the speech he tells of Democratic Congressman John Olver explain why Bush cannot be impeached.

Olver explains that if impeachment proceedings were started against Bush, he believes that Bush would begin a military attack against Iran then declare martial law.

Could this just be paranoia on the part of Congress, or is it something that could truly happen?

As Nader says, “If this is true, it’s a lot worse than we thought!”

Decide for yourself.

Bush shredding the Constitution

Two months after insisting that they would roll back broad eavesdropping powers won by the Bush administration, Democrats in Congress appear ready to make concessions that could extend some crucial powers given to the National Security Agency.

Administration officials say they are confident they will win approval of the broadened authority that they secured temporarily in August as Congress rushed toward recess. Some Democratic officials concede that they may not come up with enough votes to stop approval.

Although willing to oppose the White House on the Iraq war, they remain nervous that they will be called soft on terrorism if they insist on strict curbs on gathering intelligence.

A Democratic bill to be proposed on Tuesday in the House would maintain for several years the type of broad, blanket authority for N.S.A. eavesdropping that the administration secured in August for six months.

Remember the Constitution of the United States, the supreme law? Well say goodbye to it, because everyday for the past seven years it has been getting ripped to shreds. The Constitution of the United States of America lies bleeding on the floor.

Thanks to Bush, Cheney, and their stooge Abu they have managed to totally re-write Fourth Amendment, and nobody really seems to give a shit!

I for one am sick and tired of hearing the Democrats in Congress whine and moan that “they can’t get enough votes to stop approval” for bills that compromise the Constitution!

How about Article 2, Section 4 of the Constitution regarding Impeachment?
The article states:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Is it only we the sheeple that seem to think that President Bush and Vice President Cheney are guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors?

And what about Congress and the Senate, are they not guilty of dereliction of duty by letting Bush, Cheney, and former AG Gonzales get away with destroying the Constitution for their own political gain and or enjoyment?

For the love of God, President Clinton got impeached because of a blow job! Are the travesties Bush and Cheney are committing on the laws of this land not far more serious?

If the members of Congress don’t, not can’t, but don”t stop the impending permanent shredding of the Fourth Amendment, it will be the end of what we once called, “the home of the free.”

This was once the law of the land. Is it gone forever?
