Pelosi says she was never briefed about secret memos

In an interview with Chris Wallace, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she was never briefed by the Bush Administration on the secret torture memos.

This comes as no surprise. I’m starting to think the only people who knew about the secret torture memos was Bush, Cheney, and Gonzales. Cheney’s office probably wrote the opinions, and had Gonzales sign them while Bush was on another vacation playing golf somewhere.

This fact alone that members of Congress not being briefed about the memos should put impeachment proceedings front and center on this Congress’ agenda. It’s time for Bush criminality to stop!

$190 billion more needed for wars! WTF?

This is getting ludicrous!

What happened to “The Iraq oil supply will pay for the war and Iraq’s reconstruction?

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has come to Congress to do Bush’s dirty work by asking for another handout, and not a paltry one either! $190 billion is what it’s going to take to keep the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan funded. $190 billion of OUR money!

It was only seven months ago that Bush petitioned Congress for $142 billion for the SAME wars! Now it has ballooned to $190 billion! WTF? Where is this money going?

Here’s what Gates claims the extra money is needed for:

- $11 billion to field another 7,000 MRAP vehicles in addition to the 8,000 already planned;
- $9 billion to reconstitute equipment and technology;
- $6 billion for training and equipment of troops;
- $1 billion to improve U.S. facilities in the region and consolidate bases in Iraq; and
- $1 billion to train and equip Iraqi security forces.

And of course, as with all requests of this nature, Gates relied on the tried and true “9/11″ speech; “Considering this, I would like to close with a word about something I know we can all agree on - the honor, courage and great sense of duty we have witnessed in our troops since Sept. 11th,” his testimony said

Bush and his band of thieves keep knocking on the door asking for handouts to keep their illegal war machine rolling. One can only wonder how much of this money is finding its way back into Cheney’s office safe.

Congress needs to treat Bush like the spoiled, unruly child he is. No more allowance until he cleans up his mess, regardless of how many temper tantrums he throws!

Karl Rove all of a sudden has lots of opinions to share

Karl Rove, or “Bush’s Brain” as some like to call him sure has had a lot to say ever since he left the sanctuary of the White House’s West Wing.

After being protected under the much abused “Executive Privilege” security blanket which protected him from answering questions from Congress regarding the many scandals that have come from the Bush Administration, it seems now that he can’t keep his mouth shut. Unfortunately, what he has to say nowadays is mindless babble anyway.

This Sunday, Rove will appear on Face the Nation, Meet the Press, and Fox News Sunday to answer a variety of questions he no doubt will have approved prior to them being asked.

What will the media ask him? I wonder, I really really wonder? Will they ask him about the leak of Valerie Plame’s identity? Or his involvement in the firing of U.S. Attorneys? Or how about all of those emails that mysteriously disappeared?

The list goes on and on about all the questions that need to be asked and answered, but will they? I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but my gut feeling is that they will not.

Rather, we’ll have to sit and listen to him preach about how evil Hillary Clinton is, and the reasons she won’t make for a good president. Or maybe we’ll get treated to the inside scoop of Karl’s favorite flavor ice cream he liked to serve at his famous “ice cream Friday’s” at the White House!

So check your TV listings in your area, maybe there will be a good pre-season football game on instead, otherwise it’ll be another “there’s nothing good on TV” kind of Sunday.

Congress approval ratings lower than Bush’s. Yes, LOWER!

Bush’s approval Ratings: 35 percent
Congress” approval ratings: 25 percent

It’s pretty discouraging when Congress, which was voted in to keep Bush’s administration in check, is failing miserably at its task.

While Bush’s favorability ratings have remained relatively unchanged for months, Congress’ support declined markedly between May and July, a dip confirmed in a poll of 1,003 persons taken last week.

Democratic leaders have vowed to renew their challenge to Mr. Bush when they return to the Capitol after Labor Day. An autumn clash also looms over federal spending, and Mr. Bush has posted veto threats against bills dealing with farm programs, energy and a substantial expansion of federal spending on children’s health care.

25% approval rating. Pathetic! Is there anybody in Congress who has the balls to walk his/her talk? Then prove it!

Congress votes to restore funding to Cheney’s office

WTF? Is congress in need of a spine, or does Cheney have some dirt on the Democrats in Congress? I mean really!

Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate and the author of a bill funding the White House budget and other agencies, had refused to fund the vice president’s $4.8 million budget, arguing that Cheney’s office is refusing to comply with parts of an executive order governing its handling of classified information.

Senator Ben Nelson, a Nebraska Democrat, for some unknown reason switched his position from a subcommittee vote last Tuesday! In two days he went from a yea, to a nay! Interesting.

The Democrats let another opportunity pass by to put the screws to Cheney by losing the vote 15-14! Nice work Nelson.

I hope your constituents make a note of your spinelessness and remember it come Election Day!
