Bush’s Parting Gift May Be War With Iran

Will President bush spend his last ten months in office quietly flying under the radar with his war drum tucked away in his closet? Surely the least popular President in history will be happy to spend his remaining days in office doing anything other than getting involved in making his already failed foreign policies worse, right? Think again.

All one has to do is do a simple search on Goggle to realize that Bush and Cheney have been rattling their sabers about war with Iran for a long time. The reason it probably hasn’t happened yet is due to one man. He is Admiral William Fallon, head of U.S. Central Command. Fallon has privately stated that an attack on Iran “will not happen on my watch.”

Well it seems his ‘watch’ might be ending sooner than Bush’s. According to an article in Esquire Magazine due out next month, Thomas P.M. Barnett writes:

…well-placed observers now say that it will come as no surprise if Fallon is relieved of his command before his time is up next spring, maybe as early as this summer, in favor of a commander the White House considers to be more pliable. If that were to happen, it may well mean that the president and vice-president intend to take military action against Iran before the end of this year and don’t want a commander standing in their way.

The war sabers have been rattling with the beat of the war drums in the background for some time against Iran. If Adm. Fallon is replaced as commander of Central Command before Bush leaves office, it could mean that President Bush doesn’t intend to leave office quietly.

Iran in Big Trouble Now. US Says they are Not Working towards Nuclear Weapons after All!

One can only wonder what caused the complete 180 degree turn of events. One minute Bush and Cheney are beating the war drums against Iran, threatening a military strike if they don’t stop enriching uranium immediately. And now all of a sudden, American intelligence agencies are saying that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003, and that the program remains frozen!

In other words, Iran is not working toward building a nuclear bomb. I wonder what part of “not working on” does Bush not understand? According to Stephen J. Hadley, the National Security Advisor, Iran has put their “bomb” program on hold since 2003. Why then has Bush been so adamant about taking military action against Iran? Doesn’t anybody in Bush’s Administration talk to each other?

As history has taught us, Bush and Cheney have a penchant for war, so bad in fact that they will make stuff up in order to justify their actions. With World War III averted for the time being, and the need for “serious consequences” against Iran unnecessary, I wonder what Bush and Cheney will come up with now as an excuse to beet their war drums?

Bush: Bomb Iran and face impeachment

Sen. Joe Biden, the loquacious long-shot Democratic presidential candidate, warned President Bush Thursday that he would move for impeachment if the president unilaterally authorized a military strike against Iran.

IF? You mean Bush hasn’t done enough harm to this country and the Constitution that only now impeachment awaits him if and only if he bombs Iran? Spare me the rhetoric Joe! “Elect me; I’ll impeach Bush and Cheney. Once we’re in power, we’ll stop the war in Iraq.”

“Impeachment is on the table.” “Impeachment is off the table.” The words just keep coming and coming, because that’s all they are, words. I find it disturbing that “impeachment” threats are being bandied about as election promises, especially when that promise has a string attached to it. Why is it only OK to impeach the President after he bombs Iran? Isn’t lying the country into an illegal war with Iraq enough? Isn’t the destruction of the Constitution enough?

No Joe, your warning to impeach Bush if he bombs Iran is no different than a parent trying to discipline an already spoiled child. They are just words, because the child already knows that you won’t follow up on your threat. The child will throw a temper tantrum, and the parent will say or do whatever he wants just to shut him up. Just ask Nancy Pelosi, she knows all about caving in to spoiled children!

White House Frustrated that UK Not beating War Drums Against Iran

The Bush administration is losing patience with Gordon Brown over Iran, with senior American diplomats frustrated by his reluctance to declare bluntly that the Islamic state must never be allowed nuclear weapons.

A senior State Department official with close ties to Ms Rice said: “It would be helpful if he took a tougher line in public. We’ve got to convince Iran that the West will not tolerate them developing nuclear weapons. “At the moment, I don’t think Iran takes the threat seriously. We need Iran, and the rest of the world, to realize that this is not just a bunch of crazy Americans on the one side and flaky Europeans on the other - that we are united on this one.”

Crazy Americans? It’s more like it should be “Crazy Bush.” The only one beating the war drum is Bush, because he’s a “go it alone” kinda guy.

Senior Bush Official: “I hate all Iranians”

Britsh MPs visiting the Pentagon to discuss America’s stance on Iran and Iraq were shocked to be told by one of President Bush’s senior women officials: “I hate all Iranians.”

The all-party group of MPs say Debra Cagan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Coalition Affairs to Defense Secretary Robert Gates, made the comments this month.

She made it clear that although the US had no plans to attack Iran, it did not rule out doing so if the Iranians ignored warnings not to develop a nuclear bomb.

It was her tone when they met her on September 11 that shocked them most.

The MPs say that at one point she said: “In any case, I hate all Iranians.”

There you have it. The Bushies hate everybody except themselves.
