The Report Bush Tried to Squelch is Here

Well, I told you it wouldn’t take long before the Iraqi Prospectives Project report that the Pentagon refused to make available online, made it online. As we all sit and wait for our copies to be delivered by the U.S. Mail, ABC News already got theirs and posted it.

94 pages about the suspected link between Saddam and al-Queda, which reaffirms there was no link. Enjoy the read!

KBR Peddles Tainted Water to Troops

Troops in Iraq fell sick using “unmonitored and potentially unsafe” water supplied by the military and a contractor once owned by Vice President Dick Cheney’s former company, KBR.

Is it not bad enough that KBR, screws us the taxpayers by unscrupulusley dodging millions of dollars in taxes, then they screw the troops in Iraq by not providing the most basic, simplest, most fundamental basic need for survival, water!

KBR said its water treatment “has met or exceeded all applicable military and contract standards.” The company took exception to many of the inspector general’s assertions. “KBR’s commitment to the safety of all of its employees remains unwavering,” the company said in a statement to the AP. Well, if that were the case, then why are troops getting sick form YOUR water?

Equipment shortages, substandard gear, and now tainted water, a fundamental staple of life are being forced on the troops. Bush’s war is costing this country billions of dollars, and now the war profiteers are scrimping on water! How embarrassing. And they keep screaming how important it is to show our support for the troops!

Today marks the 5th Anniversary of Powell’s “Big Lie”

February 5th five years ago Colin Powell, then Secretary of State presented to the United Nations one lie after another to convince the world that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, and needed to be relieved of them in the name of peace.

We all learned later that the CIA had overwhelming evidence at the time to support the fact that Saddam had indeed NO weapons of mass destruction, and that his weapons program was shelved.

But again as we later learned, regardless of the facts absolutely nothing was going to keep Bush from invading Iraq, nothing.

What did Bush and England’s Tony Blair know that the rest of the world didn’t? Nothing. Facts are facts and lies are lies. As the rest of the world adopted a “the evidence doesn’t warrant an invasion” stance, Bush and company were having a hard time concealing their hard-on’s for war with Saddam.

One trumped up lie after another was all it took to keep the war ball rolling towards Iraq. One loyal Bushie after another paraded themselves in front of every TV camera they could find, and added a bit more to the lie, until finally nobody really paid attention to the facts anymore. War had begun.

5 years later, and war is still raging in Iraq, a war that shouldn’t have been started. It was started because of a presentation to the United Nations by then Secretary of State Colin Powell, a presentation that should have never been given.

Bush Senior Backs Junior on Iraq War

“I don’t know what they are talking about here. Do they think life would be better in the Middle East if Saddam were still there,” Bush senior said in an interview published Friday. Apparently critics of Bush junior’s handling of the Iraq war are “grossly unfair,” and have forgotten the brutality of former leader Saddam Hussein.

Really? Saddam Hussein was a thug, and a brutal tyrant, no doubt about that. But it’s funny how Bush senior never took him out when the opportunity presented itself. I guess he wasn’t all that bad back then to warrant his being taken out of power. He used Sarin gas on his own countrymen in 1988. He invaded Iraq’s peaceful neighbor Kuwait in 1990.

But back then, on your watch he was tolerable I guess. Maybe, just maybe Bush senior was smart enough to know that getting involved in Iraq would be a quagmire, and decided against an occupation at that time. Unfortunately, Bush junior wasn’t that smart, and jumped into the Iraq quagmire head first with the excuse of “he tried to kill my Daddy,” as his justification.

Turkey ready to “go it alone” as it readies to attack Northern Iraq

Turkey’s Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Ankara was prepared to face up to any international criticism if his country launched an attack on Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq.

Faced with a sharp escalation of attacks by Kurdish militants on Turkish troops, Erdogan’s government has decided to seek approval from parliament next week for a major military operation to target Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels who use northern Iraq as a base to attack Turkish targets.

With the lid of the Pandora’s box known as Iraq cracking open a little wider, I wonder what the Bush Administration’s response will be if Turkish forces start flooding over the Northern Iraq border?
