Japanese Whalers are just plain stupid, period

The so called “Institute of Cetacean Research”, Japan’s name given to their Commercial Whaling Fleet has reported that almost all of the mature female minke whales they killed in Antarctic waters last season were pregnant.

This, they claim using their twisted, distorted logic is “good news”, because it supports their argument that the population is strong enough to allow a return to commercial whaling.

They proudly proclaim that 91.6%, or 262 of the 286 mature minkes taken during the hunt last year, were pregnant.

“Almost all of the whales are becoming pregnant each year. This is good news. This is great. It shows that the Antarctic minke population is increasing rapidly,” the ICR’s Glenn Inwood said today.

Someone needs to smack these Japanese Whalers up side the head with an abacus and make them understand that the world sees through their thinly veiled smokescreen of “taking whales for science”, is just a cover for their commercial whaling practices. And also explain to the world how they figure the minke whale population is growing when almost 92% of the whales they destroyed in the name of “science” were pregnant?

Once again, I call on the Government of Australia to put an end to the Japanese “scientific whaling charade.”

Japan bound and determined to overturn whaling ban

The International Whaling Commission banned commercial whaling in 1986. However commercial whaling still continues to this day under the guise of “scientific research.”
Its estimated that in the 20th century alone, two million whales have been killed.

This week the IWC meets in Alaska with pro-whaling nations, led by Japan who is determined to overturn the ban on commercial whaling.

Last year, Japanese whalers killed 853 Minke Whales, and 10 Fin Whales. This year they want to hunt Humpback Whales. All of this killing was of course for “scientific research.” What do the Japanese whalers do with the “scientific” specimens they kill? Well, they sell the meat of course to “fund the cost of the scientific expeditions.”

The whole world knows “scientific whaling” is a sham, a loophole in the Commission”s convention. So now all of a sudden, Japan is claiming that whale meat is a national delicacy. Hmmmm, sounds like a China/Shark Fin Soup delicacy thing happening.

The fight to protect the whales has become a political battle. The pro-whaling nations would need a 75% vote to overturn the ban. Japan has been working overtime to “buy” votes from countries to guarantee enough votes to overturn the ban. They’ve offered millions of dollars in fisheries grants to countries in Central and South America in exchange for their votes. Mongolia, for example, has suddenly proven to be a keen supporter of whaling, although it does not have a coastline!

Japan obviously does not have any problems stooping to such low levels in order to get it’s way. The oceans’ inhabitants are in serious trouble as long as Countries like Japan and China, just to name a few, continue to exploit them for “National Delicacy” reasons!

Australia can and should pull the trigger to stop the Japanese Whale Hunts

International legal experts agree that Australia can stop the Japanese “Scientific” whaling program if it went to court. Australia could take Japan to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, or the International Court of Justice.

The legal team found that Japan’s so called “scientific whale hunt” breaches a number of international conventions.

It’s about time someone stood up to Japan, and legally challenged their “Scientific” whale hunts. Japan has used the word “scientific” far too long to try and convince themselves and the world they are not needlessly slaughtering whales for financial gain, but rather for scientific purposes.

It’s time to support the Australian Government and finally put an end to Japan’s whaling charade.

Japanese Organized Crime now in the Shark finning business

Columbian Naval Officials seized a boat off the country’s pacific coast that contained 2 tonnes of fins from endangered sharks including hammerheads, silkies, oceanics, white fins, black fins, fox shark and reef shark.

The Colombian-flagged vessel was stopped 18 nautical miles from Malpelo Island, a natural world heritage site off Colombia’s Pacific coastline.

Cartels led by Japanese and Colombians are said to be behind the big business of shark fins in the Colombian Pacific.

“The Asians control the routes and the markets, and they intimidate the local fishermen and distributors who are paid a pittance per kilo,” about 30 dollars, said a Colombian official with the Environmental Crimes Investigation Group, who asked not to be identified.

Officials estimate that around 350 ships — mostly from Japan, Taiwan, Ecuador and Mexico — fish for the prize in Colombian waters.

Shark fins have now become a major black market commodity, so much so that it is now just behind drugs in terms of major organized crime. This is a sad reality caused by Asian society’s demand for a bowl of soup.

Are the people (and there must be a lot of them!) who are paying up to $150 per bowl of Shark Fin Soup so narrow minded, selfish, and ignorant that they don’t realize what their ’status symbol’ soup is doing to OUR oceans?

Over 100 million sharks are slaughtered per year, just so you can have a bowl of soup! What’s wrong with you people? No seriously, what part of this don’t you understand?

DNA Testing proves who’s guilty, without a doubt!

A simple DNA test has proven the illegal trade of Basking Shark fins in where else? China and Japan.

The Basking Shark, the second largest fish in the world, remains in high demand for it’s fins even though it is an internationally protected species. The filter feeding shark can grow up to 40 feet long, and it’s fins can get as much as $50,000 per fin.

Now with DNA testing, it will be easier for officials to tell which type of shark a fin is from. Hopefully this will allow officials to put more pressure on countries who continue to exploit these animals for their fins.

Because of the self indulgent popularity of shark fin soup, the rich and influential of Chinese society pay big bucks to have these animals slaughtered for their precious indulgence. If the Chinese Government would allow the importation of Kraft Dinner into their country, then they could indulge in our ‘high society’ food instead!

Can anybody tell me what part of ILLEGAL Japan and China don’t understand? Does the meaning get lost in the translation? Or do they need someone to spell it out for them!

The more I read about this shit, the madder I get!
